About

Jerry H Mowbray is a native Nevadan who was educated in Nevada schools before attending the University of Notre Dame for both college and law school.  He began his legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Procter Hug, Jr. at the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  He developed his trial lawyer skills as a deputy district attorney in the Washoe County, Reno, Nevada District Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases which included serious motor vehicle violations (reckless driving, DUI and vehicular manslaughter) as well as jury trials involving criminals tried for committing violent crimes (robbery, sexual assault and murder).  He also represented the District Attorney’s Office in post-conviction cases in the Federal Courts at the trial and appellate levels.  He entered private practice in 1984 and since 1988 has been a sole practitioner representing injured individuals.  He has successfully handled hundreds of personal injury cases in both Northern and Southern Nevada as well as in the rural areas in the state in the following areas:

  • Medical malpractice
  • Aviation crashes
  • Product liability
  • Motor vehicle crash cases

Jerry has obtained an AV rating from Martindale Hubble which is the “Gold Standard” rating service for evaluating an attorney’s legal abilities, integrity and honesty.  This rating is determined by fellow attorneys as well as members of the judiciary.  He has also been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America which is comprised of the top 5.3 percent of attorneys in the United States.  He has been selected by the President of the University of Notre Dame as well as the Dean of the Notre Dame Law School to serve on its Law Advisory Council which provides advice and direction for the education of it’s law students.

There is no secret to obtaining a successful result in a law case.  It is called hard work.  It has often been said that the law is a “jealous mistress” who demands all of the lawyer’s time.  The lawyer who works the hardest usually wins.  No legal work in Jerry’s office is delegated to paralegals or legal assistants.  Jerry’s practice is not high volume which allows him to devote the necessary time to properly and thoroughly work up each client’s case.

The attorney-client relationship has many aspects.  Jerry utilizes a team approach with his clients with the objective of having the whole being greater than the sum of the parts.  This collaborative effort leads to the best likelihood of obtaining the most favorable result for the client.
